I've never been to therapy before, what should I expect?
Therapy may include learning new ways of communicating with others, developing healthier strategies for coping with stress, increasing awareness about how your past is influencing your present, coming to terms with unfinished business, and learning how to show up for yourself unconditionally.  This process can be emotionally challenging at times which is why I work to ensure that the space feels safe, nonjudgmental and confidential.

How long is a therapy session?
Sessions last 50 minutes.

How much does it cost?
My fee for individuals is $200 and $225 for couples.  I have a limited number of sliding scale spots available to clients in financial need. Please inquire.

Do you accept insurance?
I do not accept insurance but can provide you with an invoice (also knows as a ‘superbill’) to submit for reimbursement depending on the out-of-network benefits of your particular plan.

How long will I be in therapy?
The duration and frequency of therapy is something we decide on collaboratively, making sure it meets your needs and fits your schedule. I recommend meeting once a week in the beginning to get a thorough background of your life and the problem at hand.  Therapy usually ends when we both decide you have met your goals or that this form of help is no longer making a significant difference.  In general, therapy lasts anywhere from a few weeks to a year or more.

What if I need to cancel an appointment?
If you need to cancel or rearrange an appointment, I ask that you give 24 hours advanced notice. Otherwise you will be charged for the full session.

Is it confidential?
Legal and ethical responsibilities require that our therapy sessions remain confidential. Therefore, no information will be released to another professional or agency without your written consent. Exceptions will be made only if you pose a danger to yourself or someone else, in the case of child abuse or elder abuse, and some medical emergencies.
